Established in 1186 as a “Royal Burgh” Dumfries is a city steeped in history and surrounded by intense natural scenery and a wealth of wildlife.
As the final resting place of Robert Burns Dumfries is a popular destination for Burns fans who visit his Mausoleum in St. Michaels Churchyard and his home which still contains his personal possessions.
There are a plethora of activities and outings available to explore in Dumfries from simple walks in nature, to days out at farm parks and dino centres with the children. Jericho Loch offers opportunity to take part in trout fishing, and there are plenty of golf courses in the vicinity if you wish to partake.
